Abstract

The formations of combustible shales - The significance of combustible shales as a fuel for power plants has been gaining in importance. The resources of combustible shales in the Soviet Union are immense, but the prospects of mining in some large deposits are unclear, as yet, on account of their insufficient geological investigation. The book deals with the field and laboratory methods of the study of Ordovician shale formations - dictyonema shales and kukersites of the Baltic basin; of the Late Jurassic time - the Volga - Pechora basin, and of the Paleogenic time - the Boltysh deposits, the menilite shales of the Carpathians.
