Abstract

Heather Dalton explores the sixteenth century Atlantic world through the travels of trader Roger Barlow and navigator Sebastian Cabot, revealing how these men understood their world, and how their shared knowledge and accumulation of capital in international trade influenced emerging ideas of trade, discovery, settlement, and race in Britain.
