Abstract

"The adoption of qualitative empirical methods within theological research is one of the fastest growing and significant developments in recent years. It is not simply the fact that this approach is being used by significant numbers of young, emerging, and established scholars or that qualitative methods are being used across a range of theological subdisciplines that makes this development significant -- it is the growing realisation that adopting qualitative empirical methods changes what it means to do theology and indeed to be a theologian. The Companion to Theology and Qualitative Research is timely and necessary. It will pick up on these recent developments and consolidate and map knowledge and findings. It will act as an introduction for those who wish to understand the methodological challenges and complexities of this emerging field and it will set the agenda for future developments in this field."--
