"The Green Years is the most comprehensive history of environmentalism's legislative achievements, chronicling the years 1964-1976 when almost all the major federal legislation that still shapes our environmental policy was enacted, beginning with the Wilderness Act of 1964 and concluding with the National Forest Management Act of 1976. Over 32 major environmental laws or executive actions were implemented, most on a bipartisan basis. This is the first book to focus on this key period as a whole and the politics that made this progress possible"--
