Abstract

The book aims to investigate affinities and points of tangency between Lucio Fontana and Alberto Giacometti, two pillars of twentieth-century art, whose works are placed at the center of an unprecedented and surprising dialogue. Figures of opposite temperaments, but accompanied by the same magnificent obsession with the invisible within and without, Giacometti and Fontana work matter in search of the absolute. Sealing the eternal within the confines of the modeled, the practice of both hinges on gesture and manipulation, on concentration and the renunciation of definitive form.
