Abstract

This volume explores post-socialist memory in German-language literature, theater, film, and art in order to probe the futurity of uneralized, alternative futures embedded in the socialist past, speaking to issues of community, equity and equality, late-stage capitalism, and European unity. Given continuing East-West divides, a more encompassing assessment of Eastern legacies that reflects the wide scope of the East's intellectual and artistic contributions is more important than ever.
