Abstract

This course takes you through the entire process of building a full-stack application, starting from setting up your development environment for AWS and CDK on Windows, Mac, or Linux. You'll get an in-depth introduction to AWS CDK, enabling you to create, replicate, and explain stacks effortlessly. From here, you'll dive deep into serverless architecture with Lambda functions, API Gateway, and database integration with DynamoDB. As you progress, you'll reorganize your project using a Monorepo structure to handle both frontend and backend codebases. With shared types and modular packages, you'll learn how to create an efficient development workflow. You'll work on database management using DynamoDB within CDK and gain hands-on experience in granting read/write permissions and handling data marshalling/un-marshalling. In the final sections, the course covers crucial frontend aspects using NextJS, focusing on translating data between frontend and backend. The website deployment process teaches you to deploy via S3 and utilize CloudFront as a CDN. You'll learn user support, authentication, and frontend improvement techniques to round out your skill set. By course completion, you'll be able to deploy a fully functional, serverless web app.
