Abstract:'The Enlightenments Most Dangerous Woman' provides a new history of the birth of modern philosophy. It shows how Émilie Du Châtelet played a key role in the early development of the Enlightenment. Andrew Janiak chronicles how the most famous writers of the era, including Diderot, Voltaire and Kant, sought to disrupt Du Châtelet's influence, and shows how she fought back. The book sheds light on the deliberate erasure of a key female thinker of the Enlightenment era.
