Abstract:At a time of growing environmental concerns and an urgent need for sustainable solutions, the intersection of blockchain technology and environmental sustainability is emerging as a powerful force for positive change. The environmental challenges of our time, including climate change, resource scarcity and the destruction of ecosystems, require innovative solutions that transcend geographical and political boundaries. Blockchain technology, with its decentralized and transparent nature, can not only track and verify environmental efforts, but also incentivize them.
"Block chain technology is one of many emerging technologies that have the potential to solve some of the environmental problems we face today. Applications of block chain to address environmental issues revolve around: monitoring and tracking supply chains, innovative financial instruments, peer-to-peer trading of tokenized assets, enabling decentralized energy systems, and common-pool resources. Applications of block chain technology could be useful in ensuring compliance with Multilateral Environmental Agreements (MEAs) and progress on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) implementation"--
