Abstract

The art of Heinz Mack has an enduring relevance for questions of our time. Using works from every chapter of Mack's artistic journey, this volume explores his relationships with technology, science, and nature to provide fascinating perspectives on the current challenges associated with technological progress or climate change. Heinz Mack was always far ahead of his time: The reflective steles and mirror plantations he envisioned 65 years ago seem like precursors to modern photovoltaic power plants, and his incorporation of air, water, light, and sand encourages reflections on the acute threats that natural resources face today.
