Abstract

Edvard Munch (1863-1944) was acutely aware of how his blazing innerworld, in the form of memories, emotions and creative energy, shaped his visual impressions. Edvard Munch, inner Fire examines the Norwegian artist's tireless exploration of the nature of sight and its relation to concurrent developments in art history and perceptual science. It also sheds light on a lesser-known dimension of Munch's oeuvre - his connection to Italy.
