Abstract

Winter presents unique challenges to living things. Marchand (ecology, Johnson State Coll.), describes the interrelationship of plants and animals in the winter environment. In true scientific fashion, he raises as many questions as he answers. Much is unknown about plants' abilities to withstand freezing temperatures, about plant-animal relationships, and about humans in cold climates.
