Abstract

Main description: This Concise Middle High German Dictionary is designed as an aid for students of medieval German and all scholars requiring swift access to the meaning of Middle High German words. The dictionary is based on a corpus of texts ranging from 1070 to 1450 and the vocabulary listed covers all epochs within that period and all genres of interest for academic study. The dictionary provides modern German equivalents for the items listed and avoids paraphrase definitions. The information on phonetics, gender, inflection and verb is decriptive as opposed to normative and follows the usage found in the corpus.
